FREEMAN:
After reaching level 30 (on a 50lvl game) the gladiator obtains his rudis, a wooden sword. He becomes a freeman. He can now choose any armor or weapons with the money he has obtained from the fights (victors were paid with laurel, monetary payment and donations from the crowd). The gladiator will get the full payment from this victories starting at level 30. From 1-29 he will get only 10% the rest is for the gladiatorial manager. After reaching level 30 a free man can also become a teacher for other gladiators and have his own squad of low level gladiators. He will receive 90% of his winning money and can use it to create his own stadium, buy weapons and armor, pay other teachers and buy exotic animals.

AI
Another important Artificial Inteligence aspect of the game is the crowd. We must design an excitment meter that will determine how pleased the crowd is with a given fight. A failure to put on a good show could launch beasts into the arena or if the fight is over, the crowd will ask for the losers death or a sentece to a bestiarri show.DEATH it is as permanent in this game as in real life.

Excitment Meter
If you pose around and not fight you will likely die if you lose, that way we dont have low level glads trying to take a victory with higher level partners. The meter will have four steps:
1.___ death
2.___ bestiari: you have a fight vs a lion to determine your fate
3.___ lose level: is self explanatory
4.___ safety: is that the audience likes you and no matter what happens, you wont lose level
